How Afri-Tec Technologies collects, uses and protects personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are
Afri-Tec Technologies ("Afri-Tec", "we") is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website, the Afri-Tec Alert app and our services. Our office is at Ground Floor, 35 Ferguson Road, Illovo, Sandton, 2196.
What we collect
- Enquiries: your name, company, email, phone number and message when you contact us.
- App and device users: account details, emergency contacts, device identifiers and location.
- Business clients: information needed to deliver an agreed service, as set out in your contract.
Location data
The Afri-Tec Alert app and our devices share your location only when you open the app, raise an alert or check in. Your location is shared with the contacts and responders you have chosen.
How we use it
- To respond to enquiries and provide the services you ask for.
- To deliver alerts to your contacts and responders.
- To support, secure and improve our products.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the people you nominate, with service providers and partners who help us deliver a service under contract and confidentiality obligations, and where the law requires it.
Children
Where a device or account is used by a child, a parent or guardian must set it up and consent on the child's behalf.
Security
We apply technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, damage and unauthorised access. If a breach occurs, we will notify affected people and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Your rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@afri-tec.com. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
